Physicial referral in conjunction with
Suburban Pediatrics
- Venus Fitness and Suburban Pediatrics have teamed up to help kids who have become “insulin resistant”.
- What IS insulin resistance? It is a condition characterized by weight gain, increase in cholesterol, blood sugar, and other blood markers. It is also called “pre-diabetes”.
- The clinical experts at Suburban Pediatrics will monitor all clinical and physical aspects of your daughter as a patient in one of their 3 offices.
- Venus supports this journey with exercise, health coaching for girls and their parents.
What do I do? What can I expect?
Girls are evaluated by their pediatrician and referred to Venus for a movement assessment. This involves a few basic tests to determine how your daughter relates to her body in space.
After a minimum of 4 half hour one-on-one sessions with a personal trainer, and your daughter is “released” from private training, she can begin group training (minimum needed for group training is 4 girls/maximum is 8)
"The Girls Getting Stronger training is really fun and empowering for girls. I have worked with girls from 7 to 18, with various levels of fitness. Some parents have specific goals for their kids regarding health that group sports programs don't address. These are wide ranging, such as: specific sensory input for those who have some processing issues, and empowerment and accountability for teens, who want to work out, but arent sure what to do, or feel self-conscience in a public gym. Its really powerful to see your daughter learn to take her health into her own hands. I am a firm believer in teaching kids life skills--learning how to stay healthy in a practical, safe, and positive environment so they can carry that into adulthood."
